Daily Prayer for America 250

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, King of Heaven and Earth,
I place today my nation, the United States of America,
into Your Heart pierced for love of us.
On the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence,
I acknowledge that true liberty is Your gift,
and that our lasting homeland is the eternal Kingdom of God.

Under the mantle of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas,
and through the intercession of her Immaculate Heart,
bless my homeland anew,
purify her from sin,
and guide her leaders in truth, justice, and peace,
so that she may safeguard all human life,
respect the integrity of marriage and the family,
and honor the practice of religion.

Reign in my home and in my nation.
Draw every heart into communion with You,
that Your truth, love, justice, mercy, and peace may triumph
in America and throughout the world.

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, King of Heaven and Earth, I come before You on the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence that established my nation, the United States of America, upon the truths that liberty is the gift of my Creator, You Who, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, are the Sovereign Lord of History and the Redeemer of the World, and that my true homeland is not this world but is Your Eternal Kingdom, the true destiny of every people, of every nation.

With sorrow, I acknowledge the many sins by which my nation has offended You: the failure to safeguard and foster innocent and defenseless human life, the profanation of marriage and its fruit, the family, the denial of man’s very identity as male and female created in Your image, after Your likeness (Gen 1, 27), and the denial of the right to worship You in accord with a well-formed conscience. In short, I confess with sorrow that my homeland has turned away from Your eternal law of truth and love, the only way to liberty, to our eternal homeland. With a contrite heart, I implore Your mercy upon my homeland, that she may be purified of her infidelities and be restored in fidelity to You.

Under the mantle of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Your Virgin Mother and the Patroness of the Americas, and through her Immaculate Heart, I beg You to bless anew my nation, founded in accord with Your Divine Providence and dedicated to the truth that all people are created by You with equal dignity as Your children, and that they are endowed by You with the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Grant that the United States of America may remain faithful to its founding vision, not in the “pride of life” (1 John 2, 16), but in humble dependence upon You Who alone secure justice, establish peace, and preserve freedom.

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, reign in my home and in my nation. Strengthen every Catholic to live the truths of the faith in public and in private, so that America may be renewed in holiness and her liberty may be safeguarded by obedience to Your eternal law of truth and love. Guided by the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I place into Your Sacred Heart, pierced for love of man, our families, our leaders, and their future: rule over us with justice and mercy, protect the most innocent and vulnerable, sustain marriage and family life, teach us to respect our identity as Your children, male and female, and draw every heart into communion with You by worshiping You “in spirit and truth” (Jn 4, 24). Have mercy upon my nation and upon the whole world, so that Your eternal truth and love, Your justice and peace, may triumph throughout the land now and forever, until the day when “the kingdom of the world” has become Your Kingdom in which You “shall reign forever and ever” (Rev 11, 15). Amen.
